Hi this is me! oh, wait, I can write here? well.. meow.

Hello, World!

Hi there, I'm CatPencil, or CatPen for short. Are you coming this far from CatPencil Wiki or from somewhere else? Why would you even want to do that? Well, whatever it is, that's beyond me! That being said, I'm the kind of person who just can't stop talking about his interests! I even got a wiki for it, I mean. I tend to update it, so you may just assume whatever I say is highly correct or accurate by the time you're reading this. Recently, I watched the new Backrooms movie. I'm very late to it! It's been a long while, months even, since it actually came out, and I'm only NOW watching it. Mom, are you proud of me? That being said this is as far as this welcome goes, check out the other tabs to know more about me!

CatPencil's Internet Principles

As a fellow internet user and website owner, I strive to support the well-being of the internet and its many niche, creative, and welcoming communities. I believe the web is at its best when people are free to create, share, learn, and connect with one another without unnecessary barriers. Every community, no matter how small, deserves the opportunity to grow and preserve its own culture. I support a more decentralized, democratized, and community-driven internet, where individuals have greater control over the spaces they create and the information they share. I oppose attempts by large technology companies, including META, Microsoft, and others, to weaken online privacy through lobbying efforts, anti-competitive practices, or policies that reduce users' rights and ownership over their own data.

I also believe in an internet where independent websites, personal blogs, forums, and projects can continue to exist. The web should not be controlled by only a handful of corporations or algorithms deciding what people can discover or create. Diversity, openness, and interoperability are important to the internet health.

Above all, I believe the internet should be free, accessible, inclusive, and human. I value individuality, creativity, curiosity, enjoyment, collaboration, and kindness. While this website is only a small corner of the web, I hope it reflects those values and serves as a reminder that the internet is at its best when it is built by people, for people.

So, I hold this truth to be self-evident: no corporation or company is beyond criticism, nor beyond my imagination.

About me

Name: CatPencil

What kind of person I am? I'm the kind of person who usually adapts and can be very silly and nice. That's the simple description. There are two CatPencils: one is super nice and adapts to the other person, and then there's the other one. The other CatPencil is in a constant state of being drunk (metaphorically). He's incredibly silly, sometimes loves ragebaiting, can hold a four-hour conversation about how apples are actually Batman, and generally sounds completely unhinged. Unfortunately, 90% of the people I interact with only get to meet the first version of me. Only a small number of people I know or feel comfortable enough around get to see the second one. I'm also queer.

Self critic and How I feel Most of the time, I can make bad decisions. I always want to be involved in something exciting so I can forget that not everything is, and sometimes I need to take more responsibility. I also tend to be a people pleaser. Even with friends, I can completely change the way I interact just to match the vibe. I'm definitely emotional, and sometimes I'm a hypocrite. I can become deeply invested in someone, but the moment maintaining that relationship starts feeling forced, I completely shut down and stop interacting.

What I like and enjoy Everyone has their own "internet culture." I grew up in the weird, autistic corner of the internet with FNaF, Bendy, Tumblr, yaoi, and all sorts of niche communities. So if you did too, we'll probably match each other's vibe. No need to drag this section out with a massive list of every game or interest I have that nobody's going to read anyway.

Today, or perhaps this year, has been quite a first for many of us. Apart from the unironically absurd reality of our own politics, it's easy to feel lost, sad, or even overwhelmed by everything we've had to witness. Freedoms and civil liberties have continued to decline, but that's something you're probably already aware of, and I don't personally want to make this recap any longer than it needs to be. As for my predictions for future politics, let's start with my own country, Türkiye. The opposition is gradually being dismantled, and it's anybody's guess what exactly will happen next. I've been reading newspapers such as Sözcü, Cumhuriyet, and Hürriyet, all of which have expressed deep concern over the state of civil liberties in the country and the growing sense of national unease surrounding recent political developments. The high-Islamist party that recently entered Parliament proposed legislation to end secular, coeducational schooling and introduce gender segregation. The proposal was ultimately rejected. However, to many of us, the main reason the ruling party deemed it inappropriate is simply that they have not yet achieved absolute authority or public acceptance. As a result, they still have an incentive to appear moderate by "tolerating" Turkey's secular laws.

There is little doubt that this has become a matter of national concern, particularly regarding the rule of law and the preservation of the current Constitution. The ruling party has repeatedly been accused of circumventing constitutional safeguards, especially through the appointment of trustees and interventions involving high courts. As a result, many of these institutions have gradually lost the public trust and respect they once held.
