This website and me
Hello! I'm CatPencil, and this is my Wikipedia. Well... I mean that quite literally. After all, isn't it much more interesting to send someone an entire encyclopedia about yourself instead of a boring card or profile link? Jokes aside, this is a real encyclopedia documenting a real person, me, CatPencil. Or, if you're really curious, my real name is ████████. Nice try. Almost everything you'll find here is based on things I've experienced, learned, created, or simply found interesting over the years. Some articles document my projects, others explain communities I've been part of, and a few exist simply because I thought they'd be fun to write. In a way, it's a personal archive told in the style of a wiki. Looking back through what's essentially an encyclopedia of your own life is a little surreal. It's fascinating, a bit embarrassing, and honestly kind of funny. (Please don't learn too much about me.) If you enjoyed exploring the site, consider sharing it with someone else. After all, how many people can say they have their own Wikipedia? Our Vision
It's a little difficult to put into words, but if I had to describe my long-term vision for this website, I'd compare it to taking care of a tree. You don't build a tree overnight, you plant it, water it, care for it, and give it time to grow. Some branches grow exactly as you expected, others take completely unexpected directions, and every year it becomes just a little bigger than before. That's how I see this website. I don't think of it as a project with a finish line or a checklist that will eventually be complete. Instead, I see it as something that's always evolving. Every article I write, every page I redesign, every bug I fix, and every new feature I add becomes another branch growing from the same tree. Some updates are major milestones, while others are tiny improvements that only I will ever notice, but together they all help shape what the website becomes. Maybe it won't become the biggest website on the internet, and maybe only a handful of people will ever browse through its pages. That's perfectly fine with me. Trees don't grow because someone is watching.CatPencil's Internet Principles
As a fellow internet user and website owner, I strive to support the well-being of the internet and its many niche, creative, and welcoming communities. I believe the web is at its best when people are free to create, share, learn, and connect with one another without unnecessary barriers. Every community, no matter how small, deserves the opportunity to grow and preserve its own culture. I support a more decentralized, democratized, and community-driven internet, where individuals have greater control over the spaces they create and the information they share. I oppose attempts by large technology companies, including META, Microsoft, and others, to weaken online privacy through lobbying efforts, anti-competitive practices, or policies that reduce users' rights and ownership over their own data.I also believe in an internet where independent websites, personal blogs, forums, and projects can continue to exist. The web should not be controlled by only a handful of corporations or algorithms deciding what people can discover or create. Diversity, openness, and interoperability are important to the internet health.
Above all, I believe the internet should be free, accessible, inclusive, and human. I value individuality, creativity, curiosity, enjoyment, collaboration, and kindness. While this website is only a small corner of the web, I hope it reflects those values and serves as a reminder that the internet is at its best when it is built by people, for people. So, I hold this truth to be self-evident: no corporation or company is beyond criticism, nor beyond my imagination.
