Lilly's Broken Mixer (formerly known simply as Lilly's Mixer) is a kitchen utensil turned Blobian democratic symbol. Originally an ordinary mixer, it later became associated with resistance against democratic backsliding and the erosion of democratic institutions, making it an enduring symbol of democracy and civic resilience.

History

In the early hours of March 28, several groups, including the Blobians Against Progress, launched an attempted coup d'état against the democratically elected government of Blobia. Coordinated attacks were carried out across the country as members of the group forcibly entered television stations, radio broadcasters, newspaper offices, and government buildings in an effort to seize control of the state's communication network. Among the first major targets was the headquarters of the prominent newspaper The Blob Post, which the coup plotters occupied and used as a platform to announce the declaration of martial law and the suspension of the civilian government. As tanks and military aircraft began patrolling the streets of major cities, additional attacks were carried out against media organizations, public institutions, and offices belonging to elected officials. Checkpoints were established throughout the country, transportation was heavily disrupted, and communications were placed under military supervision. The coup leadership immediately introduced sweeping emergency measures, restricting freedom of movement, banning protests and public gatherings, imposing curfews, and suspending numerous civil liberties. At approximately 7:00 AM, the group announced that the blob police and their allied blob militias would no longer be subject to civilian law, granting themselves broad emergency powers. The declaration was repeatedly broadcast live on television and radio in an attempt to legitimize the takeover and discourage public resistance. Despite the announcements, thousands of Blobians ignored the restrictions and poured into the streets, organizing spontaneous demonstrations in defense of the country's democratic institutions. Crowds gathered outside government buildings, public squares, and media offices, carrying flags and chanting slogans against martial law. As the protests rapidly expanded, Lilly, the head of state of the democratic Blobian government, released a public statement declaring the coup illegal and the declaration of martial law unconstitutional. She urged citizens, civil servants, and security forces to reject the authority of the coup plotters and remain loyal to the constitutional government. Shortly after her statement, armed militants attempted to detain Lilly while she was addressing supporters. Having little available to defend herself, she grabbed her Mixer and used it to strike one of the attackers. The impact cracked the armored suit worn by the militant and damaged the mixer itself, leaving it permanently broken. The confrontation was captured on live television and by numerous witnesses, with footage spreading across the country within hours through broadcasts and social media. The incident quickly became the defining image of the resistance against the attempted coup. What had once been an ordinary kitchen appliance was transformed into a national symbol of democratic resilience. Replicas and illustrations of the broken mixer began appearing on protest signs, banners, newspapers, and murals, while demonstrators carried toy mixers during marches as a sign of solidarity. The phrase "Raise the Mixer" became a popular rallying cry, representing the defense of democracy against authoritarianism. In the years that followed, Lilly's Broken Mixer remained one of the most recognizable symbols of the March 28 resistance, frequently referenced in speeches, educational materials, and commemorative events marking the defeat of the coup attempt.

Subsequently, on June 15, 2026, Stroopwafel (also known as Stijn) publicly accused CatPencil of having broken the mixer himself. CatPencil immediately rejected the allegation, calling it false and politically motivated. He described the accusation as propaganda and claimed it was part of a broader campaign targeting left-wing figures within the Blobian Parliament. An investigation was opened by Chief Prosecutor Rina, who stated that no evidence supported the accusation against CatPencil. Shortly afterward, chief prosecutor Rina herself, publicly claimed responsibility for breaking the mixer, identifying herself as the perpetrator. Stroopwafel rejected the confession, instead alleging that Rina was attempting to protect the real culprit and was abusing her position of authority to influence the investigation. Both Rina and CatPencil strongly denied these allegations, maintaining that the investigation had been conducted fairly and that there was no evidence linking CatPencil to the damage of the mixer.

Lilly's Broken Mixer is an ordinary stand mixer with a rounded body and a light-colored exterior, showing clear signs of damage sustained during the March 28 coup attempt. Its most recognizable feature is the large crack running across the main housing, which was caused when Lilly struck an armored militant while defending herself.
